Truthfully, it took me a while to work my way through this one, which surprised me after seeing all the positive reviews. Although to be fair, I think it’s best read over a period of time or in small segments.

If you want something positive to read while you’re sipping your coffee in the morning or a break from office monotony on your lunch break, then I think you’re on the right path with this book. Personally, I don’t do self-help before bed, but it could also be a good choice for bedtime.

The beginning is chock full of motivational notes, inspirational quotes, and overall pretty general but positive tips. I think most readers will have already heard a lot of what’s inside, but it is a nice reminder. There’s some strong advice in here, such as “Your new life is going to cost you your old one. It’s going to cost your comfort zone and your sense of direction.” However, the presentation is lacking.

The reason that I am suggesting reading this over a period of time, is because I felt that the book sort of spirals from the beginning, and leaving time between reading to really process, is essential. The book covers an extremely broad range of subjects from eating habits to stored trauma in the body. I felt it was hard to process everything when so many subjects and advice were being thrown around almost simultaneously. At times, I felt the information was even contradicting.

A little more organization could have elevated the book from two to three stars, but I have to say it wasn’t really for me. That being said, in the world of self-help books it’s hard to find something that applies to everyone. I wish the author would’ve embraced that and honed in a few more specific topics.
