★ ★ ★ Worth reading!
The Couple Next Door, by Shari Lapena
*
A couple’s worst nightmare! This book will make you question every decision that every character makes.
*
The Couple Next Door is a fast-paced thriller that will keep you guessing until the true villains are revealed.
*
Anne and Marco are a normal couple with a new baby at home and slightly annoying neighbors. On the outside, they seem like every other couple, overtired, a little overworked, and with just a few skeletons in their closet. When they plan to have a simple dinner with the neighbors they share a wall with, they both hope to be done with the tedious obligation before they know it. Anne is positive that a few hours next door will be no big deal, even if they don’t have a babysitter, and the neighbor is shamelessly flirting with her husband right in front of her. After a few trips next door to check on their daughter and more than enough wine, it’s time to head home. But the unimaginable has happened. Sometime between checking the baby monitor, all the wine, and flirting, their daughter has disappeared right from under their noses.
*
This book brings to life the unimaginable. What’s worse? It’s impossible to know who can really be trusted. What was thought to be a few bad decisions from their pasts have become dark and ugly secrets brought to light. This couple was all wrong about who they could trust. The couple attempts to handle their panic and stay strong while the police investigate, but it becomes all too easy to blame one another. But who is really to blame here? And where is their daughter?
*
Get ready for more than one twist, more than one suspect, and one hell of an ending.
*
I’m rating this 3 out of 5 stars because I didn’t feel overly connected to any of the characters and the conclusion felt a little rushed. If you liked this book, you will enjoy my upcoming suspense novel! Stay tuned for updates!

'I wondered if I’d find the place where I belonged and would finally feel. . . complete. All I’d have to do was mount my horse and leave—throw my hands wide and fly away on the wind toward the stars that beckoned me to find them. But my responsibilities made me ignore their pull. So here I stayed. Away from wherever it was my soul longed to be.'
